With increasing awareness of the challenges facing women in Myanmar and globally, it was natural for the Business Coalition for Gender Equality to organise the “Smart Family Talk”. The talk was held at the Kayin Baptist Church in Taikkyi township. The women speakers came from all walks of life and encouraged one another as they spoke on the challenges they face with meeting traditional expectations while looking into the future.

Her Excellency, Naw Pan Thinzar Myo, Yangon Region Minister for Kayin Ethnic Affairs showed her support to the women by giving the opening speech. FMI’s Executive Director and Chairperson of BCGE, Daw Zarchi Tin shares her experience of what it means to be a Myanmar working woman. Through the gathering and sharing of experiences, the women of Myanmar are stepping forward to make sure their voices are heard.
